70% of LinkedIn's Users Could be Following Your Company

By James Paden Vice President of Product

Yesterday, LinkedIn released it's new Follow Company button.  An example is below, but the larger news, in my opinion, 70% of it's user base already follow or would follow a company (from their internal research).  This stat hits home for B2B marketers when you consider the intersection of two trends:

  1. Our own research says increasing numbers of B2B buyers are turning to companies for strategy and purchasing information, not independent sources. Good examples include Eloqua, Slingshot SEO and Bizo.
  2. LinkedIn is desparate to utilize their data and immense userbase to create a more relevant (ie, more time actually spent on the site) experience for professionals.  This Follow Company button is just the beginning of their efforts to turn LinkedIn into a destination site.

Now is the time for smart B2B content marketers to jump on the LinkedIn bandwagon.  As with most social trends, the early adoption will reap large rewards.  To watch how we do it, follow Compendium on LinkedIn:
