Will your blog crash if a supermodel links to it?

By Clayton Stobbs Director of Account Management

serversGetting a link from a major site (Wall Street Journal, Techcrunch, CNET) that drives enormous traffic is a fantastic thing... if you're prepared for it, of course. With that in mind, I want to tell you a story about one of clients and their high-profile experience last week.

Somewhat unexpectedly, the Baby Plus blog was linked to in a post by Nikki Taylor on a people.com celebrity blog. Naturally, given the following that Nikki Taylor drives and the readership that many people.com blogs have, this link received a lot of interest. In total, BabyPlus received tens of thousands of visitors in a very short period of time. Now, this type of traffic is great, but it can also be a disaster if you're not ready for it from an infrastructure standpoint. Using 'normal' infrastructure, this kind of traffic would have crashed the Baby Plus blog. But with Compendium, Baby Plus was able to scale to the traffic and stay live—enjoying all of that free publicity!

Below is a brief snippet from Shelly at BabyPlus talking about their strategy for business blogging:
If you ask a pregnant mom if they have heard of The BabyPlus Prenatal Education System, many will say, "No." In actuality, the system has been around for over 10 years but the theory and idea for much longer.

Everything today is viral through Facebook, Twitter, blogs and many other social media sites. The method of advertising through magazines and print publication is becoming a thing of the past. So, it makes complete sense to take our message viral, and blogging is the perfect way.

Blogging makes sharing our message easier and helps give more detail about the benefits so many of our BabyPlus families see in their little ones.  For example, one of the benefits of using BabyPlus is a more responsive and interactive child. By blogging, we can share testimonies from families regarding their children, give reasons why children act this way, and invite parents to share their own experiences.

Again, blogging is a great way for BabyPlus parents to interact with comments and/or questions and for us to share more details about our product and why it works!

Please visit our website at www.babyplus.com for specifics about how BabyPlus can give your baby a head start on learning.
