What in the World is a "Bloggie"?!

I have a confession to make.  I've been working for a business blogging software company for nearly three years, yet when I was asked to post about the "Bloggies", I had no idea where to begin.  "What in the world are the bloggies?", I wondered.  The only image that came to mind was something similar to the "Goonies", except bloggers?!  No, that can't be right...

After some additional research, I came to realize that I'm the one that has been missing out all this time.  The Weblog Awards - or "Bloggies" as they're commonly referred to - have been around since 2001, and are the longest running and one of the largest blog awards. Winners are determined through Internet voting by the public.  And, true to form, after nominations close and the winners are determined, they're announced one-by-one via Twitter and Facebook.  

The award categories are all over the board.  Everything from location - Australian to Latin American, to type - religion, science, politics, and more.  And the best part?  Any blog is eligible!  Simply follow these easy rules and you can begin nominating away...
